Known as “Thunder Valley” because the track is a cut path between mountains; Bristol Dragway features some of the best acoustics in motorsports. If 1,8,4,3,6,5,7,2 is a beat that creates a melody to your ears then “Thunder Valley” is drag racing’s Sydney Opera House and this Father’s Day Weekend the RPM NHRA Pro Modifieds will create a symphony!
Heading into the event Rickie Smith, the 2013 points Champion holds down the top spot in the points chase followed closely by Mike Janis, Mike Castellana, Danny Rowe and the series most recent winner, Von Smith. The Bristol Pro Mod elapsed time track record of 5.888 was set in 2012 by Rickie Smith and the top speed record of 252.80 miles per hour has stood since 2011. With favorable conditions forcast for Friday, look for all of the REAL PRO MODS to go after those numbers.
Each Pro Modified team will be afforded three qualifying attempts with the first set for Friday at 4:30 PM and the second at 6:45. The final attempt is scheduled for Saturday at 2:00 PM with the first round of eliminations to go off at 4:30 PM.
The remaining rounds of eliminations are set for Sunday and lead off the Pro Classes onto their second round at approximately 1PM local time.
