Split Racing’s Heather Capano is thrilled to be expanding her role on the team to get behind the wheel of her Mike Bos Top Dragster. Heather earned her dragster license over the 2014 season beginning as a brand new driver. After her first pass, she was hooked.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be a driver. I am a devoted drag racing fan already and this experience just elevates my passion even more. The adrenaline rush I get standing behind my husbands’ (Gerry Capano) ProMod car was extremely intensified after I drove a friend’s dragster to earn my license.”
After a weekend of testing, Heather and her husband Gerry went on to purchase her a used Mike Bos dragster. Some major upgrades and modifications had to be made to the car. Over the winter, Gerry and Heather’s dad, Robert, completely revamped her dragster to practically be brand new.
“My dad and husband have worked so hard putting my car together; I can’t wait to take it to the track. I’m very lucky to have such strong family support,” Heather Capano said. After some early season testing Heather hopes to debut her car at the PDRA’s Rockingham Spring Nationals event April 9-12th.
Her role as Split Racing’s Team Manager as well as Gerry & son Gianni’s co-crew Chief and back-up girl will remain as well. “It’s going to be our best and busiest season yet. We can’t wait to kick it off at the Gatornationals in March!”
