FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Baldwinville, MA – April 27, 2015 – PETE FARBER RACING concluded the 28th annual O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA SpringNationals at Royal Purple Raceway, in Baytown, Texas on April 24-26, 2015 with great qualifying runs and an extremely consistent performance.
The Pro Mod portion of the race, presented by the Real Pro Mod (RPM) Association, featured some of the most competitive action yet. Unfazed by the pressure, Farber smoothly piloted his supercharged CRC Automotive Brākleen ‘69 Dodge Daytona during the first round of qualifying on Friday to post a time of 5.908 at 246.53 mph which ranked him in fourth.
In round two of qualifying, Farber showed his consistency and skill by putting down a quicker pass of 5.895-seconds at the exact same 246.53 mph speed as his previous one.
Saturday’s weather was soggy, as rain moved into the area and caused a lot of delays. Event officials managed to get the track dry enough to run the third and final round of qualifying, and Farber let loose with another quality run of 5.933 at 246.71 mph – his fastest yet. After the final standings were announced, he was ranked in fifth overall with a seriously quick Top 16 bump spot of 5.965. The rain continued to cause problems, however, and the day’s eliminations were postponed until Sunday morning.
On Sunday morning, Farber was paired up against the number twelve qualifier, Jim Whiteley, for the first round of eliminations, and on paper it looked as though Farber would get the easy win. Unfortunately, while trying to get a jump on the competition by leaving the tree first, Farber left just a fraction of a second too soon and triggered the red foul light in his lane, giving up the win by default to Whiteley. Wanting to still gather critical data for his team so that they can continue to improve their Daytona’s performance, Farber didn’t waste the chance to make a full hit and had another great run of 5.909 at 243.94 mph.
“Even though we made an early exit, it’s been a great weekend,” said Farber, who was not disappointed by how things panned out. “The CRC Automotive Brākleen Daytona is very fast, and very consistent, and we can’t wait for the next race!”
Farber is currently fifth overall in the NHRA Pro Mod championship series points, and will try to move further up in the standings at the upcoming Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, Georgia on May 15-17, 2015.
