BRISTOL, Tenn. – Don Walsh raced to the qualifying lead Friday in the NHRA J&A Service Pro Mod Drag Racing Series portion of the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals. This weekend’s Pro Mod competition, presented by the Will Kinzer Foundation for Autism Research in association with the Autism Society of East Tennessee, is the fifth of 10 events in the season.
Walsh powered his Precision Turbo 2014 Camaro to a performance of 5.864 seconds at 252.14 mph to lead the category at scenic Bristol Dragway.
Gainesville winner Bob Rahaim is currently second with a 5.909 at 229.27 in his TLC Waste Disposal Services Corvette and Mike Janis is third with a 5.920 at 242.02 in his Jan-Cen Racing Engines Camaro.
The final Pro Mod qualifying session is Saturday at 2 p.m., and will be followed by the first round of eliminations at 4:30 p.m. Pro Mod eliminations will continue on Sunday at 1:15 p.m.
