Elma, NY – Mike Janis and his Mike Janis Racing Team (MJR) have had a great start to the beginning of the 2015 NHRA Pro Mod season. Janis currently sits 7th in the NHRA Pro Mod Championship points standings, only a few rounds out of 1st place. The team is headed to the NHRA Summit Racing Equipment Southern Nationals this coming weekend in Atlanta, Georgia, otherwise known as “HOTLANTA.”
“Being back at the track sure feels good said” said Mike Janis Jr., GM/Crew Chief at MJR. “We have been off since the end of April when we last raced in Houston. Right now we have an extremely “bad to the bone” hot rod and are very excited to race this coming weekend in Atlanta. Our 2015 Jan-Cen Racing Engines/Mike Janis Superchargers Camaro was the car to beat in Houston before we fell short with some small parts breakage. This Pro Modified class is so competitive and that is what really keeps us on our toes. It not only makes us better competitors, but it makes us better “businessmen” as well. What I mean by that is we are out here for one reason and one reason only, obviously to have fun, but we represent so many great companies which support us, and it’s our job to showcase their products to the world so we can get them new business and we can make the sales for our family owned and operated business of nearly 60 years, Jan-Cen Racing Racing Engines/Mike Janis Superchargers. The better we run, the more products we sell and the more brand awareness we bring to the world. Seems like a pretty simple concept, but I can assure you the man hours that go into this operation will tell a different story. Our R&D never stops as we are always looking to help our customers and attract new customers as well. We have been working very closely with Joe Rivera at Pro Torque Converters since the beginning of March with his newly state of the art designed EV-1 Series converters. The scoreboard numbers have been showing the early potential of our new combination, and at the end of the day we plan on keeping Joe Rivera even busier than he already is. We are still in the very early stages of development, but getting closer to where both parties want it. At the end of the day, Pro Torque will be able to build/sell more converters and we will have brought new customers/sales to our business as well. This is how we treat our partners, and we are always looking for more to come on board. It is a “WIN WIN” situation for all parties involved” said Janis Jr.
“Atlanta has always been really good to us” said Mike Janis, Owner/Driver at MJR. “It is actually one of our favorite places to race on the circuit. The weather is great, the fans are awesome, and we can’t wait to make a go at bringing home another Wally! I have been on a strict diet since right after Gainesville and have lost almost 30 lbs! I have to credit my wife of 38 years, Michelle for really staying after me and pushing me everyday. When you get in one of these 3000 horsepower cars, it doesn’t matter what kind of car or engine you have. You need to feel good sitting behind the wheel of that beast. I can tell you if I feel better, the car will run better. We can’t just have these young guys out there knocking down the christmas tree every run, so I changed my life and did something about it. Hopefully the only thing our competitors will see this coming weekend is the back of the car as we are in front of them” said an excited Janis.
