(Kernersville, NC.) Doug Winters and Winters Racing announced today that Meritor, a leading global supplier of drivetrain, mobility, braking and aftermarket solutions for commercial vehicle and industrial markets, would be increasing their partnership with Winters Racing for the 2015 NHRA Pro Modified season.
“This is the best thing to happen to our team in over 20 years of drag racing.” said Doug Winters. “Meritor came on board in 2014 and now with them providing the necessary funding we are expanding our program. I would like to personally thank Keith Evans and Marty Hetherington of Meritor for their commitment to the team. They took a chance on our team in 2014 and with their help we are set to grow the program exponentially.”
Winters Racing has contracted with Andy McCoy Race Cars (AMRC) to build a new ’69 Chevelle for the 2015 season. “We started talking with Andy a few months back. We were very impressed with his craftsmanship and dedication to safety. And the ’69 Chevelle body he designed is really an amazing and aerodynamic piece. Given what we’ve had in the past, we’re looking forward to having a car that isn’t aerodynamically challenged. Our ’57 Chevy is a great crowd pleasure, but a disadvantage on quarter mile racing.” The ’69 Chevelle will be wrapped in Meritor colors and should be on the track testing in February. “We know we have a long way to go to be ready for the first NHRA Pro Mod race at the Gator Nationals in early March. But we plan on doing a lot of testing prior to that. We want to come out at the Gators with a car capable of winning.”
Along with Meritor, Winters Racing will once again be teaming with Truck Supply Company of South Carolina to focus on marketing and business avenues related to commercial trucking service industry. Truck Supply Company of South Carolina has been in business for over 50 years serving the entire South Carolina area. With 3 locations in the state they have a huge selection of truck parts and a service center quipped with a large onsite inventory. “Edward Neeley, who owns Truck Supply Company of South Carolina, has become one of our most valued team members. He is willing to do whatever it takes to make sure we succeed. We would not be where we are for 2015 without his help.”
For 2015 Winters Racing will also continue representing their long time partners; Lucas Oil, MavTV, Firestone Industrial Products, Optima Batteries, Mickey Thompson, NGK, Hedman Hedders, King Engine Bearings, Waterloo, RSC Brands and Richmond Gear. “These partnerships got us to where we are today,” stated Doug. “We are very proud to be able to continue our efforts with these great companies. Increasing our program with Meritor will enhance everyone’s success with our team.”
Doug and Winters Racing will particpate and compete at NHRA Pro Modified and PDRA events across the United States in 2014. The season gets started March 12th at Gainesville Florida with the NHRA Gator Nationals. Please visit www.WintersRacing.com to view their other race dates and activities.
