Elma, NY – Mike Janis Racing (MJR) and team are headed to the NHRA Southern Nationals in Atlanta, Georgia this coming weekend May 16th-18th. Janis is currently coming off a big win a few weeks ago in Houston, Texas and sits 2nd in the NHRA Pro Mod Championship points standings, a mere 36 points out of 1st. Leaving Atlanta 1st in the points is the goal, but Janis has another goal in mind this weekend.
“Just this past week on Monday May 12th we welcomed our third grandchild,” said Mike Janis, Owner/Driver at MJR. “Camden James Janis was born a healthy 7 lbs 8oz to our son Sean and his wife Ashley. We are so very excited to add another addition to the race team and I can’t wait to meet him. Once Atlanta is done this weekend, my wife and I are getting on a plane and headed out to California where my son Sean lives to go meet Camden for the first time. I have one goal in mind and that is to hand deliver a Wally from Atlanta this weekend to Camden. My other two grandkids already have their Wally’s, now it’s time to get this little man his first. We have a lot of momentum going right now and just want to keep it going for the team and all of our partners. You will see one big smile if we can put this Jan-Cen Racing Engines/Mike Janis Superchargers Camaro in the Winner’s Circle this weekend,’ said an elated Janis.
“Atlanta is going to be a very exciting event for the Pro Mod’s,” said Mike Janis Jr., GM/Crew Chief at MJR. “Not only are we excited to run in front of all the Atlanta fans, but all of the Pro Mod teams as a complete organization are really excited to showcase all of the classes new partners for the series. This weekend all of the teams will be carrying a “Protect The Harvest” windshield decal on all the cars. “Protect The Harvest” is something that is very near and dear to the hearts of the entire Lucas Oil family. For Forrest Lucas and team to step and get involved with the Pro Mod’s is just awesome and means a lot to all of us out here. It shows that there is more behind the curtain than just oil. Pro Mod qualifying in Atlanta starts Friday at 3:30 pm, followed with a second session at 6:00 pm. Saturday will host the third and final qualifying run at 12:00 pm with first round of eliminations taking place at 2:45 pm. Final eliminations will conclude Sunday starting at 1:00 pm.
