Baldwinville, MA – June 08, 2015 – PETE FARBER RACING was a part of history as the team qualified in the quickest-ever NHRA Pro Mod field at the 46th annual Toyota NHRA Summernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, New Jersey, on June 5-7, 2015.
Farber, driver of the supercharged CRC Automotive Brākleen ‘69 Dodge Daytona, had a clean run in the first round of Pro Mod qualified which resulted in a 6.003-second elapsed time at 247.75 mph and ranked him twelfth. Although he had been pushed to the bump spot going into his second round of qualifying, Farber didn’t let nerves get to him. Instead, he got to work and went straight down the groove to click off a 5.959 at 246.53 mph run with an 0.985-second sixty-foot and stayed in the game in the number fifteen position. For round three, Farber improved even more and put in his best qualifying run of the weekend. He hooked hard off the launch and ran smoothly down the entire length of the track. His resulting 5.907 at 250.04 mph pass earned him the number twelve qualifier position overall.
On Saturday evening, Farber lined up against the number five qualified driver and 2012 NHRA Pro Mod series champion, Troy Coughlin. Farber was just a touch late off the line which gave the advantage to Coughlin, but Farber was able to drive around him and reclaim the lead. Unfortunately for Farber, Coughlin chased him down near the top end of the track and crossed the finish approximately six feet ahead, with his margin of victory a mere 0.0152-seconds. Farber’s final time was 5.826 seconds at 250.26 mph with a 0.968-second sixty-foot time – a new personal best ET and his quickest ever run! Helping to soften the blow of defeat, though, was the fact that the pass was also one of the quickest and fastest side-by-side Pro Mod races in NHRA history.
Throughout the weekend, Farber’s pit area also doubled as a hospitality area for primary car sponsor CRC Automotive. As CRC is based in the tri-state area, the company was able to bring a huge cheering section of more than a hundred dedicated Farber fans. The CRC employees and their families showed tremendous enthusiasm for Farber and his team all weekend long, and provided some great support.
“Yeah, we’re a little disappointed that we couldn’t go more rounds in eliminations, but we’re glad we were able to get in the show and put down a new personal best,” said Farber. “The CRC Automotive Brākleen Daytona is running on kill lately, and it’s just a matter of time before we’re back in the winner’s circle.”
Farber is currently seventh overall in the NHRA Pro Mod championship series points, and will race at the upcoming 15th annual NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway in Bristol, TN on June 19th-21st, 2015.
