Baldwinville, MA – October 27, 2014 – PETE FARBER RACING has been working non-stop to get back in the running after an unfortunate wreck at the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals Pro Mod race at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, IL on September 26, 2014.
Farber, who was uninjured in the crash, fought to retain control of his supercharged CRC Automotive Brākleen ‘69 Dodge Daytona just after launching during the first round of Pro Mod qualify. Unfortunately, the Daytona suffered significant damage as a result of the impact. Knowing that they would be unable to repair it in time for the season finale race, the NHRA Toyota Nationals at the Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on October 30-November 2, 2014, the Pete Farber Racing team made other plans.
A call was made to PFR tuning advisor and friend Al Billes, and it was agreed that Farber would be fielding Billes’ ’63 Corvette. Farber fans may recognize the “new” ride, as it’s the same car that Farber drove for Billes two years ago. Farber opted to swap in the supercharged powerplant from his Daytona so that there’s even more familiarity between the two cars.
Initial testing with the Billes’ Corvette went well, and a dyno session confirmed all was in working order. Armed with their replacement ride, PFR recently headed down to Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida for the Outlaw Drag Racing Championship. The car performed beautifully, and Farber was at home in the familiar driver’s seat. He qualified very well, with a best pass of 3.90 at 193 mph in the eighth-mile to rank third overall.
“Al Billes’ Corvette is awesome. We made it through to the semi-finals at ODRC and couldn’t be happier. We fought some clutch issues all weekend, but we’ve got a handle on car now and are more than ready for Las Vegas,” Farber confidently says of the team’s preparation for the upcoming NHRA Pro Mod season finale race.
Farber is currently ranked seventh overall in points, just 184 behind the leading driver. If things go well in Vegas with the Al Billes Corvette, Farber could still rank near the top of the 2014 series championship standings!
Opportunities for additional marketing partners to join the successful Pete Farber Racing team are still now available for 2015 and beyond. PFR will conclude the year at the season finale Pro Mod race, the NHRA Toyota Nationals event in Las Vegas, NV on October 30-November 2 at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
