PETE FARBER RACING qualified well in the Pro Mod class at the 8th Annual NHRA Carolina Nationals event at zMAX Dragway in Concord, North Carolina on September 18-20, 2015.
Driver Pete Farber started off his race weekend on Friday with a solid pass in the first round of Pro Mod qualifying with his supercharged CRC Automotive Brākleen ’69 Dodge Daytona. Farber went straight down the groove to click off a 6.002 at 244.78 mph run which ranked him eighth.
Later that evening, Farber readied his Daytona for the second round of qualifying. The car was consistent in its performance and made a respectable run, but the resulting 6.046 at 242.71 mph pass did not improve over the day’s earlier effort and Farber slipped down into twelfth temporarily.
On Saturday afternoon, Farber had a shot to make his third and final qualifying attempt. Knowing that the field of almost thirty cars was extremely competitive, Farber and team doubled their efforts to ensure their car was running at its best. Their efforts were rewarded, and Farber put down his quickest and fastest run of the weekend. His 5.923 at 246.71 mph pass not only took him off of the bump spot, but moved him up into ninth in the final qualifying order.
The first round of eliminations was slated to be run that evening, and Farber was paired to go up against the number eight qualified driver, Clint Satterfield. Farber and Satterfield each had won once against each other in prior events, so the odds were pretty even as to which driver would get the advantage. The lights signaled the start, and both drivers left the line in a hurry. Farber was confident that he could be the first to make it to the stripe, but he never got the chance to make it happen as he ran into tire shake right after the hit and had to click it off to save the car.
“The entire top 16 qualifying field was in the 5.80 and 5.90 range, so being able to qualify in such a competitive class was a huge accomplishment for us. It’s never fun to go out in the first round of eliminations, and we wish we could have gone further, but being able to even race in the first place is a win,” said Farber. “Thanks to our sponsors CRC Automotive and T.J. & Sons Towing for their continued support of our program!”
Farber, who is currently tenth in the NHRA Pro Mod championship series points, will race at the upcoming AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals at Gateway Motorsports Park in St. Louis, MO on September 25-27, 2015.
